DoubleBill Festival

Dear friends,
We are excited to present TRANSIT’s first-ever DoubleBill Festival on May 25, 26, and 27. If you have followed us for the past several years, you will recall that each DoubleBill concert is a mini festival of sorts. We like to think of a DoubleBill show as two concerts, minus the jet lag from international travel. (Hopefully our venues provide you with better legroom, too!) Our DoubleBill shows include time between the two halves of the concert for refreshments, mingling, and a chance to meet the composers featured in the show. So, really, it’s like two concerts and a party.

Hopefully our DoubleBills don’t make you bite your fingernails. No threats of alien invasion here…oh wait! What about Headless Monkey Attack by Ryan Carter, on May 25…?

We digress. The DoubleBill Festival is going to be spectacular! May 25 at the Actors Fund Art Center (Brooklyn) will feature composers from NYC and Denmark. On May 26, we will be at the DiMenna Center (W. 37th St.) for NYC vs. Australia. Bang on a Can All-Star Vicky Chow will be the performer on the May 27th concert of NYC and the Netherlands, which will be at Church of the Advent Hope (E. 87 and Park Ave). Do you need to write that down? It’s all on our DoubleBill page, along with the program info and press release.

More updates as we get closer!

xo,
TRANSIT

Corps Exquis: Upstate and Fully Loaded

Hey, upstaters:
TRANSIT is going to perform Corps Exquis at Cornell University at the end of this month! We’re thrilled to have new videos to accompany the piece. True to the nature of the “exquisite corpse” parlor game, it’s sounding better than ever.

Funded in part by grants from the Cornell Council for the Arts and New Music USA (Cary New Music Performance Fund), with support from New Amsterdam Presents.

We had a great time playing on the Ecstatic Music Festival! Thanks to Judd Greenstein, New Amsterdam Presents, the Kaufman Center, and WQXR for making it all happen. And thank you to Laurel Halo, Julia Holter, and Daniel Wohl for a great collaboration!

Head on over to WQXR for audio of the entire show.

The Spotlight Series is back!

Hi all, and happy February!

January was great: we reached, and then exceeded, our fundraising goal for our kickstarter campaign! Thank you so much to all of you for your generous support!

We are happy to announce two concerts this month:

1. Our collaboration with Laurel Halo and Julia Holter on February 23 for the Ecstatic Festival. (Remember? Reserve tickets now for a good seat!)

2. Spotlight Series: Violin Spectacular! Our Spotlight Series showcases members of our ensemble with our esteemed colleagues, and focuses on solo performances of new and experimental works. Our previous show with Phyllis Chen and Evelyn Farny was a great success, and we are thrilled for our upcoming Violin Spectacular on Thursday, February 21 at 7:00! Come join us at the Kent Art Gallery from 7:00 to 9:00 to enjoy great art, music, and refreshments in an informal setting.

Joining our very own Andie Springer will be Conrad Harris, Pauline Kim Harris, and Francis Liu.
